To equip personnel with knowledge and skills needed to manage their finances effectively and create awareness and educate personnel on access to financial services, Schools Division of Cavite City held its first ever Financial Literacy Seminar -Empowering DepEd Cavite City Personnel and Promoting Financial Inclusion at San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Cavite Gymnasium, September 18.

The seminar gathered SDO personnel, school principals, teachers and personnel from 14 elementary schools and two secondary schools and private schools of the division.

SGOD Chief Education Program Supervisor Dr. Romeo S. Rosales, delivered the welcome remarks and stated that the Financial Literacy Seminar is only one of the several activities for the month-long celebration of the National Teachers’ Month.

Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, Bernadette T. Luna conveyed her inspirational message by honoring the teachers’ noble ways in managing their finances for their family. She also reiterated the importance of saving money and setting priorities in spending hard-earned money.

Several topics and lecture presentations were facilitated by credible and reputable speakers like Mr. Andro Leo L. Beltran, Assistant Vice President and Head of Business Development and Market Education of First Metro Sec who discussed the history of banking and evolution of money, legitimate investment classes in the Philippines and how not to fall under investment scams.

Beltran also discussed the difference of saving from investing and fundamental principles investing while, Mr. Manuel R. Demain shared his expertise as a Life Financial Advisor.

In his message, Schools Division Superintendent Celedonio B. Balderas, Jr. presented the other upcoming activities for the National Teachers’ Month and World Teachers’ Day Celebration.

“Financial Literacy Seminar is an avenue for all our teaching and non-teaching personnel to educate themselves in managing your finances and money. I hope you see the importance of having you here in this convergence and benefit from the learnings”, Balderas added.

The School Governance and Operations Division of SDO Cavite City spearheaded the seminar and served as the technical working group along with other personnel from the Curriculum Implementation Division. (Patricia Ann M. Garcia, Project Development Officer I)
